Jeffrey Stephen, Group Benefits Consultant
Jeffrey Stephen joined Emerling Floss Murphy and Associates in October 2025, bringing more than 35 years of experience in the employee benefits industry. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Jeffrey has dedicated his career to helping businesses and their employees understand, navigate, and maximize their employee benefit programs.
Prior to joining EFM&A, Jeffrey spent more than five years with Equitable Life of Canada, working with clients throughout Alberta, Manitoba, and Ontario. One of his most rewarding professional accomplishments has been supporting a longtime friend’s business growth from three automotive dealerships to nearly 20 locations, providing employee benefits guidance every step of the way.
Having worked on both the insurer and broker sides of the industry, Jeffrey offers clients a well-rounded perspective and deep understanding of employee benefits strategy. He earned his New York State Life and Health License in just three weeks and exceeded expectations early in his U.S. career, achieving his annual sales quota within his first three months at a previous employer. His professional foundation was built through daily in-person prospecting, an experience that instilled the strong work ethic and persistence that continue to define his approach today.
Jeffrey is committed to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry regulations. In 2026, he successfully completed AHIP’s Medicare and Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Training certification, further enhancing his ability to guide clients through Medicare-related considerations and compliance requirements.
At EFM&A, Jeffrey enjoys helping employers better understand their benefit offerings while assisting employees in making informed decisions about their healthcare and financial protection options.
Jeffrey resides in East Amherst and became a United States citizen in December 2024. Born on the Fourth of July, he proudly embraces both his Canadian roots and his American citizenship. Outside of work, Jeffrey enjoys playing and watching hockey and holds a Level 5 USA Hockey coaching certification. He is also a passionate supporter of the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills.
As he continues his career in the United States, Jeffrey remains focused on building strong client relationships and delivering the exceptional service and expertise that have defined his career for more than three decades.
